need advice, this can't go on

Ok, here's the story but first, a little history. As a toddler, I use to have very big bms. Afterwards all the grownups would gather round the potty, make comments, laugh, and be amazed how such a little girl could produce such very big poops. I have no idea if the bms were soft or hard but whatever, I guess it was ok.

3 years ago, I began to have a hard time passing stools and found out it was due to an increase in my high blood pressure medication. I lost weight, got off the pills, and the bm issue resolved itself. Had a colonoscopy 2 years ago and everything checked out ok.

Now I'm 52, and for the past month or more it's become a regular thing again to have a hard time passing stools. Much to my chagrin, the stools appear to be getting bigger and bigger and it reminds me of my childhood. I can almost guarantee a toilet clog everytime. I now have bleeding hemorroids and I'm pretty sure, anal fissures.

Between the impacted stools(?) and the regular toilet plunging, I am beside myself to knowing what to do. I have resorted to (while I'm on the toilet) reaching back there with a piece of toilet paper and removing what I can of the hard, half-hanging out, impacted stool so that I might pass the rest. This generally helps. I have also resorted to, and this is gross but here goes, instead of using a plunger, using a comb from my dollar store mega pack of hair combs, and breaking up the stools into smaller pieces so they might flush without plunging.

While this is gross, it has also proved enlightening (besides being a time saver). I have discovered that the corn and carrots I ate last night, took one day to come out the other end. The carrots were a little frightful because I thought it was organ pieces when I was wiping, but whew, it turned out to be carrots. Thank heavens. The stools are claylike and rather hard.

I drink 8 glasses of water everyday. I take no medications. Vegetables seem to make it worse, which I don't understand. What is going on? Does anybody have any ideas? I really need to get a handle on this because this just can't go on.

Thanks for the suggestion and advice...

Re: need advice, this can't go on

Hi - as far as the toilet clog goes, how about reaching back and flushing midway through? Then later when finished. These stupid 1.6L toilets often need 2 flushes, anyway.

At home we have 2 toilets. I only like to use 1 when I have BM, because it is a normal full toilet. Our other toilet just won't fill all the way, and half the time my husband (who for some reason INSISTS on using that defective thing) has to plunge out his BM. I only use that toilet if it's an emergency when I'm up there and I can't run to the other 1 fast enough!

Hope you can find help for your problem!
