Question My bowels have been very dark?

Ok this is embarrassing but I'm concerned. The past week I've noticed that my bowels are almost black in color.. I'm a teenager and this really freaks me out. The thing that really bothers me is if i have corn for some reason peices of corn (not digested obviously) will also be on the bowels... what's wrong with me? This is so gross! I'm afraid to tell my parents I mean why would I tell them about my bowels seriously. I know I need to get a checkup or something. This can't be normal..help lol

Re: My bowels have been very dark?

Hi,
Pepto bismol and some other medicines can turn your stools dark. This is not a problem. Blood in the stool can also make them darker so it can be something you need to have checked out. Don't be embarrassed or freaked out about wanting to be healthy. If this is a problem that has gone on for a few days and cannot be attributed to diet or medication you need to tell you parents you need to see a doctor. It is probably not a problem, but don't take a chance
