Fissure - Bowel Disorders Message Board

So, does anyone know how to treat for an anal fissure? I had a baby almost three months ago and pushed for two hours. I'm pretty sure this is how it develped. My doctor diagnosed me with this and prescribed a suppository, however it's not really helping and I don't know if it's healing. What else can I do? I am in pain. Thank you!

I had a fissure for about ten years before going to the dr...Finally I went to see a surgeon and he gave me eight weeks of using trini nitrate cream and if that didnt work recommended surgery..I had the surgery which went smooth and had immediate relief, went back to work the next day! So that's what the treatment usually is..cream first then surgery if you want
