| persistent hemorrhoid discomfort
I am in my 50s and have been having hemorrhoids as long as I can remember. Usually no problem, some bleeding, and if they were uncomfortable, using suppositories for a couple of days usually helped. I have also always had not the best bowel habits and usually large hard stools every 2 days or so. After a hard BM about 1 month ago, the usual discomfort (maybe some vague achiness and a full feeling in the rectum) that would get better with suppositories in the past has persisted. I have started drinking more water and tried to increase my fiber. This has resulted in having softer BMs daily, but I still have this uncomfortable feeling of something being there that seems most prominent after a BM and in the hours before (I've got to where I go most every morning).
I have been to my internist and also to a GI doc, who thinks it is probably internal hemorrhoids. I am scheduled for a colonoscopy next week and he has said he will do the infrared coagulation on some of the hemorrhoids at that time if they are grade 2 or less.
My question is have other sufferers had this similar feeling of the presence of the hemorrhoids that seems to persist like this.
Thanks
