Is this supposed to happen?

I just had diarraha and I noticed while I was wiping myself, I discovered like a mucus with a little bit of blood. Is this normal when someone has diarraha? It was not alot of blood, just a little bit. After the two wipes the blood disappeared. I want to know if there should be blood or not in my stool?

Re: Is this supposed to happen?

Hi lamal,

I have had Crohn's disease since 1988. Is the blood a bright red or a darker colored red? No there should not be blood in your stools. The blood may have come from a hemoroid. Do you know if you might have one? The mucous is also not normal. With my Crohn's I have alot of mucously stools and that usually happens when my Crohn's is flaring up. Sometimes also if you have a bacteria in your intestines it will cause the mucous. This is usually treated w/ antibiotics.

Please call your Dr. and tell them what is going on. They would most likely want to get a stool sample from you.

Good luck to you and keep us posted. If you have anymore questions I would be more than happy to help if I can.
