Is this Hemorrhoids??

I'm not sure if this is hemorrhoids, but I have been having a strange bulge that seems to be protruding from my anus, but not all the time and not always when I have a BM. For about the last 2 weeks when I have a BM it has been painful and sometimes a little blood. From what I've read this sounds like hemorrhoids, so I'm going to try some at-home remedies like a sitz bath or more fiber and see if that helps alleviate the symptoms.

I was at the gynocologist earlier this week and had her just look externally and she said she saw some fissures on the outside, but the bulge wasn't visible at that time. Other than my gyno, what type of doctor would I see about this? I don't have a regular General Practitioner.

Re: Is this Hemorrhoids??

Sounds like it might be internal hemorrhoids that just pop out when you go to the bathroom. I have those. I had some itching like crazy, and a little bleeding. My gyno took an outside look--just like yours--and said they were anal fissures and gave me some cream. That helped, but I was still concerned because she didn't check "inside." So, I ended up going to my GP and he did check inside and out, and said he didn't feel anything. When I told him what happened when I had a BM, he said that sounded like internal hemorrhoids. He also thought I had something similar to jock itch, and prescribed a cream that ended up being the same thing as the gyno prescribed. I do get bleeding occasionally--bright red. And, believe it or not, I get a magnifying mirror, put it on the floor, squat over it with a flashlight to see if I can see any external bleeding. And yep, whenever I have blood on the tissue, I see little cuts or fissures that I can visually see bleed when I pull on the skin around them.

Tonight, in fact, I had what was probably the most blood on the tissue I've ever had, and a drop or two in the toilet, which I never see. Did my check thing and found THREE little fissure things, which would obviously account for being more blood than usual. I have IBS w/constipation. And about two hours prior to the recent blood discovery, I had been straining a lot to go. Then strained some more with this one. I know better. But when I stop having problems, I forget not to strain and push!

Sitz baths are great and wiping as little and gently as possible, with wet toilet paper if possible. Mine was bothering me so much a couple months ago, I wouldn't wipe at all--I'd get in the tube and rinse off!!

It's amazing what you can talk about on health board!!
