All of the equipment should be sterilized and I think the part that actually went inside the body had an attachment which was new and came out of a sealed plastic container. Are you going to a modern hospital or clinic? You can get Hepatitis from being exposed to someone's blood if their blood touches you and you have an open cut. I wouldn't be worried about this but if you are you might confirm with the doctor about the sterility of the equipment to be used. All needles for the IV's should be new out of a sealed plastic container also.
