LOTS of blood with bowel movements for past week-scared

I am 43-years-old and female, in basically good health. I don't drink or smoke and I do not have a family history of any bowel problems. Last year, I had a bout of rectal bleeding and had a colonoscopy that came back normal. The doctor didn't mention hemmorhoids-he just said everything looked fine. That was last March. Now, this past week, every time I've had a bowel movement, I have lots of bright red blood on the tissue and in the bowl. I do have a small external hemmorhoid. I can't believe anything so small is causing so much blood. My stool is normal-I can't see any blood in it and it is of normal consistency (TMI, sorry). There's just blood in the bowl. My question is, should I be concerned? Seeing all that blood has really scared me. Should I call my gastroenterologist, or is it just the hemmorhoids again? I'm praying to God it's just hemmorhoids. Please, any advice is appreciated. Thank you.

Sounds like you have a fissure. The doctor who did my colonoscopy in Novemebr did not see my fissure. Have a colorectal surgeon check it out. That's their specialty, and it's not worth all the pain. I have been in pain way too long and I'm having surgery on Monday to hopefully fix this once and for all. Good luck and God bless.

Bright red blood is generally just the hemorrhoid but if it never stops bleeding then you might want it removed. Or it could be a fissure...either way it is not life threatening just pretty much annoying and you may need to have it fixed. If it bleeds occasionally don't need to worry about it.
