LOTS of blood with bowel movements for past week-scared
I am 43-years-old and female, in basically good health. I don't drink or smoke and I do not have a family history of any bowel problems. Last year, I had a bout of rectal bleeding and had a colonoscopy that came back normal. The doctor didn't mention hemmorhoids-he just said everything looked fine. That was last March. Now, this past week, every time I've had a bowel movement, I have lots of bright red blood on the tissue and in the bowl. I do have a small external hemmorhoid. I can't believe anything so small is causing so much blood. My stool is normal-I can't see any blood in it and it is of normal consistency (TMI, sorry). There's just blood in the bowl. My question is, should I be concerned? Seeing all that blood has really scared me. Should I call my gastroenterologist, or is it just the hemmorhoids again? I'm praying to God it's just hemmorhoids. Please, any advice is appreciated. Thank you.
