The one thing I forgot to ask! The re-section itself

I wanted to ask my doctor but forgot, anyway...at the acuall site where the colon is joined together (anastomosis) How long does that area take to heal? another words when are you out of the woods for the possibility of a leak? is 3 weeks long enough to consider that area pretty much healed together? if there were going to be leaks or problems would the be in the first few days etc?? Thanks, just something thats on my mind..So far, I feel real good!

Re: The one thing I forgot to ask! The re-section itself

Common concern! I asked if that connection would be weak and he told me it was by far the strongest part of the intestines. While the possibilty remains that the remaining diverticuli can become a problem, the actual resection would be fine. Adhesions can be a concern, and they take a few months to form. I have twinges now and then that I assume are adhesions just by the time frame. The solution is to go in and cut them away which in turn can cause more to form so I'll take the twinges.
