I just cant believe this is happening to me

This is like the most worse, embarrasing thing that can ever happen.

I was having some bleeding upon BM last year about this time. I went to the Gasto and he said probably fissure. He gave me a cream to use. I went back and had a colonscopy done last June. He said I had a small hemorrhoid. Nothing else on my colonscopy.

Since then I have had these symptoms
light anal itching, some light blood off and on, burning/aching after a BM, some purple engorged vein looking things around my anus (I have been doing self exams-who knew I was a contortionist)
The pain isnt bad, its just the burning/aching. If I use preperation H it burns at first but the pain killer stuff helps. I also used some desitin this morning which helped for a while.

Also I had my gyno annual last November and he did a digital rectal and didnt feel anything.

My question is could the doc have missed anal cancer from the colonoscopy?

Molly-

I'd make an appointment with a Colon and Rectal Specialist ASAP. It appears things haven't gotten better for you and have only progressed.

Not everyone who has so-called specialized in Gastro has completed a Fellowship in the field. Most folks have only done a Residency.

Don't sit on this another day! It could be nothing, but it's better to be reassured by someone who specializes in this area.

I just wanted to say I went to my doc and she looked and said I have 2 very small external hemorrhoids. She said she could send me to a surgeon if they really bother me but the surgery is painful(whether banding or cutting) or I can just live w/them. She gave me a prescription for anusol which I havent gotten filled yet.
My symptoms have gone away. I dont know whether it is mind over matter or what but I was so terrified and it all worked out. I cant believe I have hemorrhoids though. I feel weird about it.

If anyone out there is scared, dont be, get checked out. It wasnt that terrible at all.

I had 3 external hemorroids I lived with for 14 years. I had one internal banded a few years ago. I just had the surgery in Nov. and I'm finally starting to come around. For some it is a long, slow heal. I found surgery painful because I had stitching and there is a muscle to do a BM so that is painful. Also sometimes you are left with small skin tags since they can't cut right to the muscle. I have those too.

I found warm baths helpful to shrink swelling, and I never liked prep-H. I found an ointment called Calmoseptine (it's over the counter) it's soothing to the area. The Colo-Rectal doc told me about it. It's not carried by every pharmacy but it can be ordered. It's not super expensive and I've had the same tube for 6 months and it will probably expire before I finish it.

I've been adding fiber to the diet and drinking more water (something I should have done years ago). Hopefully your condition will not worsen if you do those things and the hemorroids won't flare. Try to self manage it first because if you need surgery it can be a long recovery.
