| Anal skin tag surgery- is it as bad as hemorrhoid surgery?
I'll be having surgery to remove a large anal skin tag that developed after several years of fissure problems. While I don't have a fissure now, the rectal surgeon recommended I have it removed. I called the Dr's RN today to ask a question and found out the procedure is actually called a hemorrhoidectomy. I'm assuming it's called that because the procedure will be similar to hemorrhoid surgery.
My questions:
1) How long does the healing process take? I've read so many horror stories from hemorrhoid surgery patients and I'm wondering if my skin tag removal will cause the same amount of pain and prolonged recovery.
2) I know hemorrhoid removal causes A LOT of pain. Should I expect the same agony??
3) Also, I had previously made plans for an event taking place a few days after surgery. This will involve sitting down for 2-3 hours. Is that going to be a problem?? Should I cancel?? I read online that you should lay down as often as possible.
