| Lateral Sphincterotomy: Part 2
Sorry for not posting any recent updates.
Again I just want to share my experiences so others know what to expect.
Well it is three weeks since my Lateral Internal Sphincterotomy to help heal my fissures. The sutures have all fallen out now, of course the incision is still healing though. I don't have much pain at all now, just a little discomfort during bowel movements. I did notice I have a bit of a "pooch" where the incision was, but I'm not concerned since things seem to be working fine down there ;3.
I never had any problems with incontinence after the surgery, not even the expected leaking of gas. I did however notice a little bit of an odor for a while, but that seems to have gone too.
I already feel much better than I did before the surgery. I can tell the fissures are healing. The only part still sore is the muscle. Especially with firm stools it is pretty painful to pass and is more difficult than before. Almost like the muscle isn't as strong as it used to be (which I think was kind of the point of the surgery). So I'm still learning to adapt to that, but overall I'd say it was an okay experience. It was really painful at first, but worth it. Now I just have to wait and see if everything will heal up the way I hope.
