Please Help Me-urgent! - Bowel Disorders Message Board

So for the past month or so I've been have very bad diareha everytime I eat. As soon as I finish within like literally 20 to 30 min I have to go. I don't understand why this is? I used to take lots of fiber supplements and fiber choice and stool softners, but I stopped taking them this week bc I thought it would help...but no. I still have lots of bloating and gas and a bowl movement after meals. I usually eat lettuce or veggies and fruit. Also, sometimes I can see the food undigested in the stools...like my body isn't absorbing the food. Its just going straight through me. weird? I dont do much exercise right now bc I"m a college student...which frightens me even more. I'm not old enough to have these types of problems...but like its becoming very inconveniate and hard to deal w/. I also have to think about where I'm going and if there is a bathroom. Can someone please help me to why this is happening? I never thought this would happen to me but now I don't know what to do?!?

thank you for the reply,
no i haven't taken anything new or been anywhere (travel) new. Its something new that has been going on...I've never experienced this before!? My dad had some of the same issues though and i'm thinking it may be a bug or virus or something. He was having the same issues...and it went on for a while. It was about a month that he had it. I never knew this until my mom told me a few days ago. SO...I dunno. I"m so embarrassed to see the dr. about this though. Like its not something that is easy to talk about ya know? so thats what has prohibited me in going...i'm so embarrassed!

I suggest you should see a doctor for this. There are many reasons for diarrhea, but most are due to infections of pathogens and can persist for long periods of time (months even!!).

But for the time being, try taking diphenoxylate (stops diarrhea) this is the drug name so consult a pharmacist to see if its right for you.

Are you in pain after eating?? Or is it just the runs? I have the same problem but am in extreme pain about 20 minutes after eating. Ended up going to the dr. and it ended up being my gallbladder and I am having it removed on Friday. If you are in pain also I would definately go see the dr. I have lost 20 pounds in 2 months because of this and I get worse by the day. You really need to see a dr. Good Luck to you!!
