| Re: Burning and hurting anus.
It sounds like you have an anal fissure. That's a small tear on the outside of the anus that tends to be right at the opening. They can be very painful and cause some blood, burning and sometimes spasms that last for hours. I'd talk to my doctor just to make sure. If you don't heal it within 8 weeks it can become chronic and that's a whole different ball game. I just had surgery on one that I've had for over a year. You need to increase your fiber, water and the most important thing is to keep your bms very soft and strain free. Sitz baths help too. Ask you doctor about nifedipine ointment or nitro ointment. Be wary of steroids, they can help but when used for too long they thin the skin out and you don't want that. I use miralax daily to keep my bms soft and I eat a higher fiber diet than I did before. I hope you heal quickly and are pain free soon. Suzy.
