Bowel issues

Ok for almost a year now I have had ecurrent issues with my abdomen and lower chest. Distention, pain in the upper portion of my abdomen/lower chest, constipation, diarrhea, cramps, and overall pain in abdomen, chest, flank. Multiple rounds of antibiotics over a few months and every motnh or so it would happen again.

In late July it flared up and I went to my doc and they did another CT scan and found a bowel obstruction. Admitted to the hospital, NG tube, exploratory surgery h owever found no obstruction, but my appendix "looked weird" according to the surgeon. So they removed it. Pathology report was acute inflammation of appendix, with no evidence of infection.

Now a few months later these are still going on. I have gone to a GI specialist, and he has ordered some blood work as well as ordering a CT Enterography scan.

Has anyone else gone through something similar? I am a 28 y/o male with no prior abdominal surgery before the laproscopic exploration and appendectomy.

Re: Bowel issues

The doctor didnt say. She said it was not normal, but was not the typical infection look. It was enlarged and hardened but not a typical infection. That is about all I know on the appendix subject.

Re: Bowel issues

Just thought I would give this a bump... issues still going on. Current symptoms are abdominal pain mostly upper near rib cage on both sides, pain radiating towards flanks in back, muscular type pain just inside of hip bones, nausea (no vomitting), lightheaded. These are the same symptoms I had when I was admitted in July. I go tomorrow to see the GI doc. I have had the endoscopy, colonoscopy, and laproscopic exploration. No signs of anything at this point. No chrohns, diverticulitis, etc. Anyone with similar symptoms and history gotten any good answers?
