Twisted Intestine or Obstruction - Please help
I just got home from the hospital and I would like some advise from someone who has been through something like this. I woke up in the middle of the night with horrible pain - worse than childbirth - that would not go away. My husband took me in to emergency and after a cat scan, the dr. said it was a twisted intestine and they were going to do an emergency surgery.
When the surgeon came in, he said in his 25 years of practice he had never seen someone as young as me with a twisted intestine and he thought it is was an obstruction into the small intestine. So, they kept me in the hospital overnight and a day with no food, iv, and enemas. I wasn't in any pain so I came home.
I still have no pain but my stomach is distended again and I have had diarrea (sp?) ever since I got home. I guess that is a good thing but my worry is whether normal operations can occur through the small intestine.
If anybody has any experience with this, please let me know. I am wondering whether I should pack a bag because if it hits like last time - I can't function in that pain.
Thanks in advance.
