Exclamation Serious IBS question....bright red blood in stool.....?

I have IBS (Irritable bowel syndrome) (I haven't had any tests but my Doc has IBS and was able to diagnose from the symptoms and description as to what is going on)

Honestly I have been doing so much better....not many flair ups lately at all until last night

My mother who has IBS and Crohns (I'm not sure if I spelled that right) and is a nurse said sometimes there is blood in the stool caused by the IBS is this correct.

I've not had blood in the stool before with it. (At one point I did every now and then as a teen but it wasn't a lot and it went on for a few days and stopped)

It started last night and I'm still having some blood in the toilet today. Do I need to see the doctor or is this normal?

I am having a hard time finding anything on this.

I recall the doc saying someting about sometimes there would be blood in stool but he didn't say how much..

My stomach hurts...normal area that I get the IBS pains....but its relieved after a BM (just sore)

No trouble having bowel movements at all....(Infact I've already had two this morning....first one with a little red this last one with quite a bit more)

Do I need to go to the doctor or is this normal.

Normally I have a set day as to what I eat. I did eat Pizza earlier this week.

And not last night but the night before I had Hot Chedder Peppers (I haven't had those in over a month. And they upset me big time....)

Just letting you know. Do I go to the doctor or is this normal.

My mom the nurse says it is but I wanted to confirm with other IBS sufferers

(I am on no meds for it at all doc feels it can be helped with diet and I'm only 22)

2 bowel movements within the hour and 4 last night....if that helps

No weight loss or illness (Infact I'm trying to lose weight with no luck)

I'm just looking for confirmation (Can't really afford the doctor right now but if its not normal or if its a sign of something serious I will go)

Other than the blood and IBS pain (which isn't too bad this time) I feel normal

Bright red blood is not serious(dark red would be). I am guessing you also have hemorrhoids that flare up.. If you want to know why you are bleeding the bright red you will have to see the doctor for a look see/diagnosis but it isn't necessary unless of course it gets really bad you would need to have something clipped or cauterized. I am sorry you have to deal with this issue at such a young age...lets hope it clears itself up over time.

Re: Serious IBS question....bright red blood in stool.....?

I don't think I have hemmoroids....then again I don't really know. I've been dealing with this issue since I was 15. I didn't get diagnosed until about 3-4 months ago. My mom has it real bad too. Just the blood scared me. I mean its not everyday you see blood coming from there. Thanks for the info I didn't know that there was a difference and that there can be dark. That really calmed me down a lot Thanks for letting me know that.

I'm thinking of watching it today and if it gets worse going to the doc in the morning

How long should I let this go on?

Okay so here is an update and slight recap

Okay I have IBS. On Wednesday that evening I had a little bit of bright red in the toliet bowel and on the toliet paper after a Bowel movement (That was probably the 6th BM I had that day)

Yesterday it happened again twice. Not my first BM but my 2nd.

I then called the doc and set up an appointment for today. Well I had 2 more BMS yesterday and no blood.

This morning I got up and there was no blood. So I cancelled the appointment thinking I was fine.

The second BM I had today had a little bright red blood with it (But not as much as yesterday)

I mean I feel fine. I don't feel sick or anything. I have a little stomach pain (same area I get the IBS pain) its not as severe as normal.

When should I start to worry? If it isn't better in the morning should I go on down to the doctor?

------------------------------------

My mother who is a nurse doesn't seem to concerned and she said it should clear up on its own......

She said bright red isn't too much of a concern but dark red to black is

She has IBS as well and she also has Crohns

My mom thinks it was just a tear because I have the IBS and I had so many BMS that first day (after a few days of constipation)

What stresses me out the most is I know I can't afford to go to a specialist or anything and make rent.

So that has got my tummy in an uproar.

This is all new and scary for me....I'm 22.

I had it similar a few times when I was a teen before I was diagnosed
