does anyone know why my colonoscopy hurt so bad. It was the worst pain i have ever gone through until the pain got so intense I passed out. I remember everything up until that point and was screaming and squeezing the nurses hand as hard as I could. It was my understanding that there would be no pain.

They didn't sedate you? I didn't even know I had mine because I was sedated.
They did a Lathroscopy down my throat first and i remember most of that though it was just uncomfortible not painful and i felt more relaxed and fell asleep after that. when they started on the colonoscopy I woke up and was in EXTREME pain until it got so bad that I passed out. Then I woke back up when they were done. The recovery nurse said shes never heard of that happening.
I wasn't under anesthetic with my colonoscopy and tbh, the worst part for me was when he had to turn into another part of the colon. Sharp, INTENSE pains would shoot throughout my abdomen. Next time I am definitely going to request anesthesia.
I WAS anesthetized for my last colonoscopy but I woke up and almost came off the table when the Dr tried to inflate my colon (a routine part of the procedure) because my colon is so twisted and kinked and is chronicly infected. It took twice the normal dose to get me under again. Have you gotten the results of the colonoscopy yet? Having that much pain may be an indication that they did indeed find a problem. But at least now they should know what the problem is and hopefully can fix it.
I am not sure if yours was succesfull but I know if your colon is narrow or flattened from the cleansing before hand they will push air through which does hurt. No sedation? Your Doc is pretty barbaric! This is my second colonoscopy attempt I have also had an attempt at the sigmoid? I am told that due to the twists and turns in my colon that the colonoscopy can not be done. This is very frustrating as my mother had colon cancer and I have been diagnosed with IBS-D. Has anyone else had this problem? What other options are there for screening.
just dropped in on your discussion, be aware! I went for a colonoscopy and gastroscopy and a diverticulum in the duodenum burst when they put the air in. I had suffered a perforated diverticulum, which resulted in my having to have a major operation to repair the damage, I also had peritonitis from the feacal fluid leaking into the stomach, and was extremely unwell. I was in hospital for one month. I am still unfit to work after 7 months. I now have to have another operation to treat a large ventral hernia in April, and another six weeks before resuming work.
