Sulfer Gas....desperate for help!

I am living as a prisoner in my own home! I have had the most horrific smelling gas for the past few months. It comes and goes without any warning. A little background: I am a chronic pain patient and am on daily pain medication. This all started when I began a new medicine. I was sent to a GI doctor who assumed it was from this med (something about how the colon breaks down this certain med). He took me off the med, had me eating a dannon yogurt and taking 2 probiotic pills.

My gas only got worse. I went back one month later and he believes I have a build-up of really bad bacteria in my GI tract. He thinks the that medicine I was on was just coincidence now.

He now has me on a potent antibiotic, made just for the belly, an acid-reflux medication, and the probiotics. He said I should notice a difference in a week, and if not then he wants to do a colonoscopy and endoscopy.

It has almost been one week and today the gas is back in full force. I am just sooooooo fustrated! It's one thing to be in chronic pain every day of yoru life, but now add this to the mix and I am about to loose my mind!

I have NO other symptoms. No pain. I am not constipated. No anything, but this horrific smelling gas. It is so bad that even those charcoal pads do nothing for it.

Any advice? Has anyone gone through something similar? He said the bacteria overgrowth just might be really bad and needs to be cleaned out.

Oh...one last thing. This is probably way TMI...but I just had a bowel movement and there was this really long stringy thing in there. It was not a worm, but looked just like one. It was really long!

Thanks!

Re: Sulfer Gas....desperate for help!

One of the symptoms of gluten intolerance is foul smelling gas. You could avoid it and see if it makes any difference.
