Hi I am new here and so happy to find this site. Almost 5 weeks ago I had an Open Sigmoid Colectomy. The surgery went well and I am recovering pretty good, I have one problem. When I move my bowels, which is much more frequently now, I see maroon colored blood on my stools and when I wipe. I do have a big hemorroid, but the blood is darker than the bleeding I used to get from my hemorroid. I called my surgeon and he told me that I need to give my body time to heal and that this was normal. I have numbing pain on my right side near my incision. I think this is normal. I have been walking a mile a day and doing Pilates and Yoga every other day. I take a lot of Probiotics. I am not constipated or having any pain with bowel movements, but I am just concerned about this bleeding which only occurs after a bowel movement and I do not bleed otherwise. Has anyone else experienced this after this surgery? The surgeon pretty much has told me not to worry about it, but surgeons usually are done with you once they've done their thing. Anyone experience this? Thanks
