Hello All,
I have been reading all the different posts and making notes when I see someone's case similar to my own. I had 18 inches of the lower small bowel removed and had a resection. I was told it was not disease but was twisted/kinked from several previous female surgeries. I have been home about 3 1/2 weeks and am trying everything. I take culturelle, lomotil, I am on pain meds. I just added citrucel fiber. I have also tried benefiber - that didn't work as well. I also tried Sustenex that did not work well. I am taking sublingual liquid B12. I try taking a chewable centrum multivamin and that causes nausea. I seem to not be able to keep the diarrhea controlled and have not left the house only to go to doctor. At night I get awful gas that keeps me up. I take a gas relief pill. The nutritionist recommended Peptamin was $300.00 a case (I only drank 2 and they caused severe vomitting/diarrhea). I can take boost but will have diarrhea later. Does anyone have any other suggestions? I tried to follow the diet the nutrionist gave me but I am still losing weight and get weak with the diarrhea. Next step my doc wants to send me to a Gastrointest. Doc.. I drink plenty of fluids water/gatorade. I try to keep everything in but it seems with the diarrhea it comes out faster than I can put in. I even take immodium. I am/WAS a very active person that has put a halt in my life at the moment...someone please tell me it does get better? Any suggestions?
