Smile My PPH Surgery Experience

Hello everyone,

I had my pph surgery for a couple large bleeding internal and one tiny external hem on Fri. May 22 at 7:20 am i woke up in the recovery room with minimal pain. My right eye was killing me cause (i found out later) it was scratched during surgery when they were turning me over. ( Later that day they called in an antibiotic eye drop for me and i am better.) They gave me percocet before i went home and sent me home with scripts for vicodin and valium (for bowel spasms) my doc told me to start taking them at 2pm and to continue whether i felt i needed them or not. He said he gave me a local antisethic in the area that would last around 12 hours. He told me to take 2 tbs of metamucil in the morning and 2 colace at night. and to continue to do so for at least a week or two. I had my first tiny bm Sat morning and a couple more tiny ones Sat. On Sun (today)I had a couple small ones and a normal size one. Soft and a tiny formed. Honestly the pain was not horrible. There was some pain but not that bad. I have had a lot of pressure the anal opening up about 6 or so inches. That is it. I did bleed a bit during bm's but not much. So far this experience has been very positive. Already I can tell that the hem is gone cause it does not prolapse anymore. I hope that this helps people trying to decide whether or not to get this done. I do get worn out and weak and all the stuff cause of surgery, like nausea, etc. I will keep you all posted. I sure hope the rest of the week goes this well. My doc wants me back to see him in two weeks to get a check up and a note to return to work. If I feel this good the middle of next week I am asking him to go back the first week of June.

Smile Re: My PPH Surgery Experience

Hello again,

Well it has been 2 days since i last posted and 4 days since surgery. I am feeling better everyday. I get weak and tired which i am not used to but my doc said is normal. bm's getting more normal. still on a realatively soft diet. after a bm i am pretty sore for about a half hour or so. the pain is tolerable, kinda like a toothache where it makes you sore all over, but pain meds help. My main complaint is the tiredness and weakness. hope this helps everyone. i callled my doc today and i see him next tuesday June 2 and hopefully back to work on Wed June 3. If you have any questions please ask. All in all this has been an ok experience and it worked. No more prolapsed and bleeding hem. Thank goodnes

Re: My PPH Surgery Experience

Well I am 11 days post op and went to the docs today. He said i am doing awesome. I go back to work tomorrow. BMs are getting more regular. I have no pain, just a bit of itching. I only needed pain meds 4 days and then Motrin for a couple. I take metamucil everyday cause of diverticuli and i take stool softeners for the rest of this week and then doc told me to wean my self off of them. I do not bleed and my hems are gone as far as i can tell. so this has been a total sucess for me. Doc wants me back in 3 weeks and then hel will do a full exam with the scope to make sure the staples are intact and there is no stenosis. I don't think there is cause bm's seem normal. Hope this helps somebody.

Re: My PPH Surgery Experience

I am having the same problem. Could you tell me if this was done outpatient & were you put to sleep during this procedure? I absolutely refuse to have hemorrhoid surgery. My mom had it 2 times & it was a horror for her. But, I'm to the point that something has to be done.

Re: My PPH Surgery Experience

if i may ask, why was it such a horror for her (your mother)? i'm currently trying to decide between the two procedures (conventionl/pph) and i'm really not sure right now.
