Colonoscopy prep mixture tip?

What's the best liquid to mix with the gallon prep? I've heard some people recommend Fresca, apple juice.

What did you use and did it help the nastiness?

Re: Colonoscopy prep mixture tip?

Are you allowed to mix it with another liquid? I was told to mix something like Crystal light, a lemon lime or other clear type. I would definetely think no to this but please call the clinic/dr for advice.
By the way a good tip.... Eat lightly a few days before your prep day. This will aid you in cleansing out your system. It has helped me to only have to drink half of the prep. Did you get Ducolax as well ?

Good luck,
Bonnie

Re: Colonoscopy prep mixture tip?

It's the PEG 3350 unflavored dry solution so I have to mix it with something. On my instructions it says I can drink apple, white grape, cranberry juice, carbonated beverages, coffee without creamer, jell-o, tead, popsicles...

Re: Colonoscopy prep mixture tip?

Is it ok to mix it with gatorade if it has the electrolytes in the mixture already? I can't imagine too many electrolytes would bad right?

Re: Colonoscopy prep mixture tip?

Sorry to clarify , I mmeant any other liquid besides water and a powdered Cryastal light. We use the Golightly stuff at our hospital. It does say to refrigerate it as it goes down better chilled. My daughter is having one the end of the month and for children they use Trilyte,it comes with packets of flavor like Crystal light that you mix it with.

Re: Colonoscopy prep mixture tip?

I use peg 3550 powder daily though not the massive dose for colon prep and i mix it with just water. Peg 3550 is a tasteless substance anyway.

Re: Colonoscopy prep mixture tip?

Been there done that and caught MRSA! Donot use any red liquids, Clear liquids are the best. Enema the morning of, if there is a wait you will be glad you did. Had I to do it again I would ask for a MRSA culture. Especially after the VA being caught for contaminated equipment. You may think it paranoid but if you test negative before then test positive after your treatment cost is on the provider.

Re: Colonoscopy prep mixture tip?

I suggest keeping the mixture ice cold, and then sqeezing fresh lemon and lime juice in. It wasn't bad...

I tried the powder flavors (the crystal stuff), and the wrong "dose" of powder made the whole thing disgusting. Then I had to drink it.

Re: Colonoscopy prep mixture tip?

Our clinic tells us how much to put in. Besides I would think if you are doing a gallon prep you would just use enough for a gallon. It IS pretty disgusting but it needs to be done. Today my daughter's GI dr told us that if she can't tolerate it then to go buy Miralax and drink this til cleaned out.
We are praying t his will lead to answers for her.
