Wound leaking - Bowel Disorders Message Board

Hello

I got my wife home from the hospitol yesterday after a colostomy.
she had an absess and had 8" of her colon removed.
They had been packing a hole from a cathater they attempted to drain her absess with and also removed staples from the top and bottom of her surgery wound and packed them with strips.
They are leaking alot, seems like a pint every time i change them. thats every 5 hours or so.
The bag and wafer I can deal with but all this fluid leaking from her "holes"
is hard not to worry about.
Anyone had any experience with this sort of thing?
I am trying to keep her clean and her bandages changed frequently, they just did not warn me that this amount of fluid could come from the abdominal wound.

That question would be best directed to the hospital/doctor who did the surgery.

I was more so looking for anyone who had dealt with this issue.
The hospitol seems to say everything is normal all the time.
This might be the wrong forum for us, people don't seem every friendly or supportive on here.
1 person has bothered to even try and help us and to her we are greatful.
don't bother responding and delete my post.
I'll go where people understand if your new to all this and maybe just in need of alittle assurance.
I am very suprised and dissapointed, I was told many people on here will reach out and try and answer things and help.
