Why would lower abdomen be swollen & tender to touch 6 months after sigmoid colon resection surgery...three days after resection surgery, i had to have emergency surgery due to bowel perforation.

Have you have blood work done to see if you have an infection going on? The only reason I can think that you are still swollen and sore is something inside has not healed and I would request an MRI so see why you are still suffering. Good luck.

Re: Why would abdomen be tender to touch after 6 months after colon surgery

I'm sure you are right but what kind of bloodwork do I need? My surgery was on July 13 and emergency surgery on 16th. My incision broke through a few times so I had to heal from inside out with the help of a wound vacuum twice. Sent to a Wound doctor and finally had a culture of the inside of the wound and found I had e-coli infection which was preventing me from healing. The wound finally closed after 28 days of Bactrim (and all the side effects this drug causes) but the tenderness and swelling on each side of the incision still exist (the swelling reminds me of a hernia). Even water from the shower is uncomfortable. I'm so frustrated since it took the wound almost 5 months to close and I can't help but wonder if the infection is still there and is building up. Needlesstosay, I hesitate to go to the doctor because I don't have faith in them with what I have been through.
