| Why would doc remove hemorrhoids but not enlarged papillae?
I recently underwent IRC at the doctor's office to remove a prolapsed internal hemorrhoid. It turns out there were several; he removed them all. He also said that I had a small external one that wont cause any problems-(true?).
I was relieved, but shortly after a bowel movement the next day, I could see in the mirror the same lump of skin protruding slightly from my anus. After doing some research, I realize that it is actually called an enlarged papillae, not a hemorrhoid. The hemorrhoids were a just coincidence.
It bothers me because whenever I sit for long periods of time, it becomes inflamed and there will be a smell of minor incontinence. Also, because my anus is never able to close (unless the lump is forced back in,{only to come back out minutes later}) there is a constant smell, and I have no control over my flatulence. Also, after bowel movements it gets really inflamed and I can't even wipe properly with it in the way.
Why wouldn't the doc remove this along with the internal hemorrhoids? My theory is it wasn't inflamed at the moment of the exam, so he didn't realize it was the problem. Should I go back to the office and see if I can get the enlarged papillae removed?
