Question 3yr old with constipation???? help plz

hi ok to start with im not sure if this is the correct category to put this thread in so sorry if its not!
I have a 3yr old daughter that is having problems passing her stools. They are hard and very large in width, she has regular exercise, fruit and veg everyday and she never goes anywhere without her beaker! (which usually has orange squash in). Ive taken her to the doctor and they gave me medicine to help her go, which then just gave her unstoppable diarrhoea but then as soon as she's off the medicine everything goes back to how it was before.
Any ideas what im doing wrong? or if it could be something more then constipation?
HELP ME PLEASE!

Re: 3yr old with constipation???? help plz

My son had this for a whole year and we had to have him on Lactulose everyday for the entire year. It went away gradually by itself, but you might have to be prepared for this to last a while and that there is no real reason for it other than immature bowels. I know of other children who have had this, and it also went away by itself after a long time (around a year also).

Re: 3yr old with constipation???? help plz

Hello, I'm a mom of 3 girls and hopefully I can help with home remedies.

To soften the stools naturally: If she is drinking out of a bottle/still nursing, you can put light Karo Sryup about 2 tbsp. full in her milk., or try the pharmacies for correct dosage for PEROCOLACE. It also works very well.

For a natural laxative for babies: Open a can of 7-up and let it get flat(no fizz), then also put it in her milk. It really works also.

The last resort, you need to go baby suppositories and deal with her that way. Once she has gotten unstopped, keep doing the natural remedies daily.

One of the big reasons that a baby gets constipated is she's not drinking enough water. If she's anythink like my girls, she hates water. So, any drink that I could get away with, I used to water to dilute a coke, juice, sometimes I put water in their milk.

I hope some of these remedies can help. But for sure do not be afraid to use the baby suppositories.
