What causes colonic erosions?

I can't find much about what causes colonic erosions. I had a colonoscopy yesterday, and the doctor biopsied erosions in my left colon. I will know the results in a few days. I didn't think much of it because I was still feeling groggy from the sedative. However, now I'm beginning to worry about what it could be. The photos from my colonoscopy show the erosions as red, inflammed looking circular areas. Has anyone ever had erosions? What was the cause? Thanks.

Jen
