| just diagnosed with diverticulitis
I hope everyone is doing better. I was just diagnosed with diverticulitis after a trip to the emergency room in severe pain. 3 emergency room visits in less than a month. Once they said it was hemorrhoids, then hemorrhoids with diverticulitis (they did a CT scan). I do have a bad case of hemorrhoids inside and out. The last time in another emergency room, the Dr. said I had an anal fissure. I went to a DO who treated me for the anal fissure. Now lots of pain later, my family Dr. is treating me for the diverticulitis with Cipro. I am getting up with severe pain every morning and I don't think I can take much more of this. When he was examining me rectally this week, one of the diverticula emptied and he said he had never seen that before. I am eating soup and jello and protein drinks, trying to give my colon a rest. I don't understand why the pain is so bad in the mornings. I feel like my insides are coming out. It is like being in labor! I take a Roxicet (I had to beg for it) for the pain but it takes about an hour to really kick in. The first attacks started in March and then I was ok for about 2 weeks and then boom, I get sick again. I don't have a fever but I feel pretty bad. I am thinking about trying to see a colon Dr. in a larger town about 100 miles from here just to be sure the right things are being done. My Dr. is ordering a upper GI here. ( I had a colonoscopy done in 2008 and there were no problems.) He is a very good man and I think he is doing all he can. I am just so sick and scared. When I was in the emergency room at our local hospital, the Dr. on call was examining me rectally and it hurt so bad, I was moaning and he told me to shut up! I am almost afraid to go out here anymore. Any advice would be welcome. Thank you!
