Thrombosed Hemorrhoid--clot removal & healing time?
I recently had a thrombosed hemorrhoid lanced in the office of a colon/rectal surgeon, and he removed the clot. I had the thrombosis for 5 days prior and it was extremely painful. I tried baths, creams, etc and nothing helped. My husband was even going to take me to the E.R. from the severity of the pain.
This doctor told me absolutely nothing about the procedure, and just about gave me enough time to pull my shorts down to start injecting me with anesthetic (which by the way made me scream & patients heard me in the waiting room). After 3 injections of anesthetic he lanced it and left it open and put in some packing. I felt no pain during the brief procedure. As soon as he was done the doctor left the room & went back to his office. The nurse/assistant told me to go home and soak. I asked the doctor and he said in a few hours. He also told me to take something for pain, that the anesthetic would be wearing off in about an hour. Well, I took 2 Advil figuring how bad could it be? I experienced the worse pain I have ever felt in my life...I was actually delusional from pain. My 12 year old and husband were mortified. I ended up having to take Percocet. I could not function for 24 hours...I did not end up soaking till next day, and at that time the packing came out. The lancing was done on Monday, and today is Thursday and I am still having lots of discomfort despite being off my feet 90% of the time and soaking 4-5 times a day. I had my first bowel movement the day after the lancing and I thought I was going to die. This morning with a bowel movement I had bright red blood. I have not had bright red blood since prior to the procedure. I have gotten no answers from the office staff when I call the doctor except "everybody heals differently". I have been out of work the last 4 days and don't know what to do. Has anyone else ever experienced this kind of recovery? About 4 1/2 years ago I had the same thing done with another doctor but had it done in a surgery suite with general anesthesia and had a few days of discomfort but nothing like this.
