I can definitely see this happening....especially if you've been on pain meds, depending on how much pain you're in and where your fusion is. If it's in the lower half, that could also be part of the problem.
What meds have you been on?
How is your diet in general? The first thing is to make sure you're eating enough foods that will help peristalsis...moving of the digestive tract.
Stool softeners help as does some fibre supplements.
It takes a while for things to get working in a habitual pattern.
I had lung surgery a looong time ago and was basically bedridden because I was tubed and attached to an outlet in the wall. I was also on narcotic pain meds and constipated for 9 days. I refused to have a bm in the bedpan..lol. It took a while for things to work.
