People, I really need help. Any you can give me will really help.
For the past 2 years now I have had constant soft, nasty stools. The kind of poop that sticks to the toilet, all the time. I really worried about it because I know it could be a sign of something really wrong. Doctors just tell me I need to eat more fiber, and after taking fiber pills it's like my body gets used to them and goes back to the way before no matter how many I take.
Honestly, the more natural fiber I get in from my diet, the worse it is. As far as I can tell, this is not anxiety related and I haven't been able to tie it to something in my diet. I've followed a strict Paleo diet for a while and I still have this porblem. Tried a 3 days fast and that was the only time I had some relief, and that was because I wasn't eating.
Has anyone ever dealt with this before?
I first started this in a time of my life when I was going out and drinking alot but I have since stopped all that and nothing has changed. One winter, I did have chronic sinus infections and took a lot of antibiotics.
I would recommend seeing a GI, I have been diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis & fiber makes my condition worse. Do you have any blood or mucus in your stool?
Could be that you contracted a stomach virus of some sort. Have you travelled abroad or drank foreign water? Some exposure to unfilitered water can carry parasites and can cause this for weeks and even years.
If you have not had any known allergies, and no surgery or condition which could cause this, then you should see a GI doctor to have some tests. Sorry all I can advise is to see a specialist about this as there are numerous things that it could be.
I have been out of the country several times and numerous backpacking trips where I drank filtered water. I see how it could be parasites and that's wild that they can last this long.
I plan on seeing a specialist if the enzymes and probiotics don't help.
Hi There! antibiotics gave me a lot of trouble I am convinced. Somewhat soft stools might be a bit better than hard as long as it is not pure liguid. Hard stools can make anal fissures and infections in that area, as can diarrhea I have read. It is better somewhere in between. I have heard formed but not hard is good. One of my friends had antibiotics followed with so much diarrhea that it was a problem with her diarrhea and her underwear during an ice storm when water was limited. She used a probiotic formula for awhile and later had trouble again when the antibiotic was repeated. Now she thinks that the green clay is wonderful to heal up her diarrhea. She puts a teaspoonful in a glass of water stirs it and drinks the water in the morning without stirring it for the first 5 days and then after that she stirs it before she drinks it in the morning. They put clay in kaopectate I heard. I have always believed that since I am in charge of my own health I can choose to disobey a doctors advice if I think the advice is lousy and many times for me it was. I happen to believe that if I had not taken the advice of the doctors I went to for the first few years my health would not have been so badly damaged by the pills I took. Who is at the toilet to look at it, is it him? If I think a medicine is harming me I quit it and run it past the professional and why. If the professional does a lousy job I change professionals. I also choose to educate myself about my body, how it runs and how best to take care of it. It is too bad that we couldn't have the hindsight in front of us to help us with our choices sometimes.
