pebble poo?

Hi all. I have a problem with small pebble like poos, instead of one solid poo. The problem is not every time, kinda comes and goes. I also have discovered lately that i have a bright red blood discharge when I go. Are the two related? What is wrong with me?

Re: pebble poo?

Ever been to a sheep farm? They have "pebble poo" normally because they eat a diet that is all vegetable and very high in fiber. That's normal for a sheep, not for people.

You need to examine your diet and make certain that you are getting the right amount of all the foods you need from all of the food groups and plenty of water.

The bleeding may be caused by a hemroid that is being irritated by your constipation. You should see your family doctor to have it checked out.

Re: pebble poo?

It is a symptom that MIGHT indicate diverticulosis. For most people this condition is no big deal, but it might be a good idea to see your doctor and get things checked out to make sure nothing develops into a bigger problem.

Re: pebble poo?

Hi <IMG SRC="http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/wave.gif">

Welcome to the Board. Sorry about your problems.
It sounds like you have a form of constipation that is usually caused by not drinking enough water daily.Drink at least 8 glasses daily should help.I think that is why it only happens sometimes.

The red is probably blood either caused by a rectal fissure or hemorrhoids. I think when you have blood in your stool you should always have it checked out by a doctor just to be safe.
