Fever after sclerotherapy for hemorrhoids
My internal hemorrhoids were bleeding badly after every bowel movement wich prompted me to seek medical care. The DR.(cr specialist) explained that he could take care of the problem quickly and painlessly in the office with a few injections. I agreed. I underwent proctoscopic injection into the hemorrhiods with a sclerotherapy agent. The procedure was almost painless, just feeling a slight pressure and burn with the injection. I did not feel the needle, I mention this because my second visit was not as agreeable. I had no side effects from my visit, other than my hemorrhoids ached for a while.
The following day, no pain, no bleeding after a bowel movement, all was good.
Upon my second visit, almost 30 days later, the doctor
injected me again, this time deeply, and I mean he burried the needle deep into the tissue. This caused great pain, and heavy bleeding on the exam table. The Dr. commented he ran out of tissues. I didn't comment on this at the time, I thought it might be normal.
About 14 hours later, I woke from bed with uncontrollable shaking ,fever, nausea, and a splitting headache. I had a fever of 101 degrees that lasted the entire next day. The nausea quickly passed.(no vomiting). I phoned the Dr. and told him of this. He quickly dismissed these symptoms as the flu.
I would tend to agree with the Dr. on this however, the headache lasted almost a full week. A constant headache, and I am not prone to headaches.
It has been several weeks since my last visit. I still have a slight pain in the injection site, and the headaches, although not constant, still persist.
I welcome any comments, or advise. Thank You.
