Fissure & Flatulence
I am a 19 year old male from the U.K.
For about a year now I have been battling a fissure. One which appeared two years ago but was healed before returning a year ago. No medication worked, however I was able to control it to an extent by eating more fibre and I went a month with no blood. About 2 months ago I had surgery for the fissure and it didn't work, I still suffer from it occasionally.
My new concern however is flatulence. About 3 months ago I noticed passing gas was very explosive and loud. Other than the noise and aggressiveness, I had no concerns. However, about 1 month ago I moved out to live at my University campus. Since moving out I have noticed increased amounts of flatulence at evening times. The problem arises when I'm in public or with friends, when holding in the flatulence, my stomach becomes very uncomfortable. I can feel the pressure of the gas for a few second before it goes away again for a few minutes, it feels like eruptions going on in my stomach. Later on when I do pass gas everything becomes normal again. I have to stress, while it is uncomfortable, I wouldn't say it's painful, it's just uncomfortable for a few seconds. Admittedly, due to living at University, my eating patterns are poor, I'll wake up and eat breakfast around 3pm, have lunch and fruit around 5pm, then eat dinner around 9pm. Could this be a cause?
My main concern is that there is a much deeper underlying problem causing both the fissure and this new issue with flatulence. A problem such as Colon Cancer or Crohns disease.
If anyone has any experiences with flatulence like the one I have described, please do share. I have tried googling and doing my own research but I haven't had much success. I don't understand why in the past I could hold gas in the evenings and suffer no consequence, where as now I feel this discomforting experience.
