My thrombosed hemorrhoid question

I think I am suffering from thrombosed hemorrhoids. Initially I had anal fissure for the past 2 months and slowly I got hemorrhoids I guess and 3 days back I got this thrombosed hemorrhoids, which is giving me a hell alot of pain. Just 2 days back, I started using nitroglycerin .2%, but the thrombosed hemorrhoids is still hard and paining (of course the pain is alleviated a bit in 2 days of nitroglycering ointment). Will nitroglycerin help to resolve my hemorrhoids and my fissure if I continue to use it for some more days?

Re: My thrombosed hemorrhoid question

I have had fissures and thrombosed hemorrhoids in the past, so I know what you're going through. I also was prescribed nitroglycerin for my fissure. It took my fissure about a month to heal with using the nitroglycerin. It doesn't work in a few days, unfortunately. The nitro doesn't help the thrombosed hemorrhoid though. That will go away on its own. It took mine about 1 to 2 weeks to go away. They are the most painful of all!!! I have heard of some people having to have it lanced and the blood clot taken out. I hope that won't be the case for you. Keep up with the nitro and your fissure will heal. I hope you're feeling better real soon!

Re: My thrombosed hemorrhoid question

Thanks for your kind reply. Whenever I start thinking that I am recovering, somehow my stool is hard and just ruining my recovery. Today is such a day. I did not bleed but it was bit painful and seems that my fissure is little open again. In spite of taking citrucel and so much of water, my stool is hard sometime. I am jus thinking what else can I do to make sure my stool is always soft.

Re: My thrombosed hemorrhoid question

My doctor told me to take Colace as a stool softener. It has really helped me a lot during my recovery from the hemorrhoidectomy. Try that or another stool softener. Yeah, it would be pretty painful on a fissure if your stool was hard.

Re: My thrombosed hemorrhoid question

Now my thrombosed hemorroid is healed completely. But still I am having some pain after the BM. It is defenitely better; but I am little worried when it will become normal. I am on nitro .% for 2 weeks. Shouldn't it be healed by now or should I continue to use it for some more time to get it healed?

Re: My thrombosed hemorrhoid question

Keep using the nitro. I had to use the nitro for over a month for mine to heal. When it's healed, you'll know it. Hope it heals soon for you!

My son is going through the same as you and has been been using nitroglycerin for the last week. Were you using anything else like preperation h. He is and says it is making him very itchy.

Re: My thrombosed hemorrhoid question

Nitro works great. As it has more side effects, my doc prescribed diltiazem which also does relaxes the blood vessels but with little less side effects. You can ask ur son to try tat if needed.

Re: My thrombosed hemorrhoid question

Thank you for your reply. I know that you were originally here in Feb 2011.
My son has been on nitro for 2 full weeks now and has not been back to a doctor yet. Are you still having problems since Feb...because just when my son thinks it is gone, it comes back. He has been fighting this all summer but not with the nitro so he is really hoping it will work. You said that you were on nitro, when did your doctor switch you to the other meds and were you switched just because of the sides effects or is it better than nitro?
