| Anal Gland Cyst or Fistula Surgery Question...and recovery.
Greetings, for about 6 month I have had a hard well on the inside of my butt cheek I would say about 3cm from where your anus starts. It is a hard mass that never really seems to get larger or smaller.
I am an avid rider, riding between 200-300 miles a week. I have noticed that on some ride when the area get irritated the lump get really hard and painful and with a little bit of pressure the lump burst with a small amount of pus (not fowl smelling and a tine bit of blood).
The first time I went to the Colon and Rectal surgeon he stated that it was likely a nueroma, but this last check up when I told him it would burst with pressure he stated that it was either a anal gland cyst or a fistula.
He has scheduled me for a fistulotmy in the next 2 days. He stated that the procedure is booked for 30 mins and the actual procedure will take 5 mins.
I am having a ton of anxiety over the procedure and I am now on ativan to deal with the stress.
My questions is this; for the people that have undergone either the cyst surgery or a fistula surgery it seems that he is very confident in it taking 5 min (under local and sedation). Does this seem to be comparative to the procedures that you have had done?
What is the recovery like, I have a big race that in the end of November that I have been training for for 9 months. Wanted to get an idea of the pain involved and the nasty incision that is made.
Thanks in advance
