Tight rectum and flat stool

Hi all. When i have a BM, the first "piece" is usually either around normal(approx. diam of quarter) or maybe a bit thinner than normal(approx. nickel), but any subsequent pieces, regardless of the lenght of the first piece, is noticably flatter. Also, when I pass gas, my rectum sometimes feels tight and the air has a harder time coming out. Other times, passing gas is normal. Any thoughts or advice?

Re: Tight rectum and flat stool

It could be a number of things, what you need to do is see a Colon/Rectal Specialist to rule out something serious. I would suggest you make an appointment with a colo-rectal specialist who does anomanometry testing and defacography. These tests should indicate whether your anal/rectal muscles are working "together" or "opposing" each other. It could also be hemmorhoids or the sentinel pile from an anal fissure or even Irritable Bowel Syndrome. The thing is, only a doctor can diagnose the condition...
