dibalitating abdominal pain after standing
My mom is currently in the hospital for the 7th time in the last 13 months. Her problem is still undiagnosed. It is most frustrating since she had excellent health her entire life, but is now bedridden with abdominal pain which produces vomiting (at this point) after she stands for anyamount of time at all. Her internist is a close family friend who ordered every test imaginable. At this point she has lost 45 lbs and we have been to Vanderbilt. The Gastro Dr. there wouldn't even address her pain - he just said to get her home and on a feeding tube. It took 2 of us to fly her there with all the vomiting, wheelchairs, and pain to manage. She was eventually diagnosed with an ulcer ane we were elated thinking our misery was over. Sadly, the upper abdominal pain has never ended - (it can be masked, slightly, with narcotics, but breakthrough has occurred and there is little comfort now - IF she moves. Her BP rises drastically with the pain and vomiting begins - usually gagging first... she rarely keeps food down for long) The ulcer is healing (EGD shows this) and she has now been diagnosed with hyperparoidthyroidism, BUT treatment with sensapar has brought down the calcium level WITHOUT relieving the pain and vomiting symptoms. Please help with any suggestions you may have. She has NO quality of life and it is especially sad since she is so lucid otherwise. She has been tested for bone disease, vasculer issues, neurological issues, but we are open to ANYTHING since the doctors are obviously missing something!
