Re: 18 days without bowel movement
[QUOTE=flipfleury;4973330]Sometimes the large intestine gets twisted and a extra loop which can cause severe constipation. Lazy colon is usually caused by using laxatives too much too often to have a bowel movement.
How are they going to see anything on the colonoscopy if you have that much stool in your large intestine ? Try using an oil based enema, drinking warmed prune juice, hot water,2-4 tablespoons of olive oil, these are some of things you can do. If I were you take a glycerin suppository and wait up to an hour and see if it works and if not then use an oil based enema. It's going to be painful to try to pass that hard stool so use lots of vaseline on the outside of our anus and just inside the rectum. Try taking slow deep breaths and holding it for 10 seconds and slowly exhaling and keep doing this until you can pass the hard stool. If you strain and force the hard stool out its going to be a lot more painful and you're more likely to cause anal fissure and hemorrhoids. This could take some time. If none of these things work within 2-4 hours then you need to go to the ER and get dis impacted by a nurse or doctor. Warning that this is very painful to have done but if you don't do this ,you could end up with a bowel obstruction which can be life threatening.
Take it from someone who has struggled with chronic constipation all my life that it's a whole lot easier to prevent it from happening in the first place. I have had to change my diet to a high fiber diet, drink lots of water, and make time everyday to sit on the toilet to have a bowel movement and also take Citrucell in the morning and evening to help maintain regularity and soften the stools to make it easier to pass a bowel movement. I no longer have to strain and force to the point of having tears stream down my face just to have a bowel movement. I hope this helps you to change your diet, water intake, bowel habits.
