itchy anus and scrotum

Hi,

I've read a ton about this and haven't seen anyone with a cure or a cause. I would like to share my experiences.

To figure out the cause of this ?disease? we need to find common traits, habits, exposures, etc.

I am 30. white. male. skinny. Smoker. I drink Alcohol. I smoke pot.

A few weeks ago I got itchy anus and scrotum. I read online and started freaking out. Extreme itch, painful sometimes (pins and needles)

This is what happened leading up to this:

1)extreme bad fungus on feet. not sure if related
2)quit drinking for a month, (was daily drinker before)
3)I switched underwear type AND detergent.
4)I used NAIR at one point on my genitals.

The problem started with new underwear/pants combination. pants didn't have a belt, would fall down. I'd lift them up, and the boxers would come up with them. This up and down friction eventually led to:

Ingrown hairs. Diagnosed at the hospital as staph infection.

Ingrown hairs continued for a few weeks. large, puss filled, painful. Girlfriend got a few on her too. I had about 5 total. she had 2.

a disturbing red rash appeared on my groin, where my sctrotum brushed
up agains my legs. no itch.

in the furthest crease of my groin, I began to sweat alot, white pus looking
material appeared in that area as well.

The ingrown hairs have pushed themselves out, but there is definitely
some pus (solid white material) left in them.

My scrotum and anus now feel like POISON OAK, and PINS AND NEEDLES. It feels like the hairs have become stiff, and are stabbing me. The itch is EXACTLY the itch of POISON OAK. the rash almost reminds me of it too. the skin "weeping", "pus-ing", itching = Poison oak.

this is what I think happened:

did NAIR. not a good idea. not sure if it is related.

changed underwear, ended up chafing my groin.

this disturbed the skin. irritated it. Made it SENSITIVE.

in the mean time, I'm with a new girl. she may have some sort of yeast infection (although shows no signs). she hasn't shown any rash or itch.

after the skin was disturbed, a combination of me itching, stressing, and not cleaning myself good enough is causing a vicious.

itch, scratch. more itch, more scratch.

A few of the online sites mention vitamin B12, watching out for food allergies, watching out for laundry/clothing allergies.

I think the key to beating this may be not to scratch. I haven't
found any over the counter stuff to stop the itch (I've tried
baby oil, neosporin, cortisone cream, benadryl cream, benadryl
pills)

So far I've tried REALLY hard to not scratch today, and it is doing
better. I will continue to post of my progress with this extremely
difficult and common ailment.

I read that cashews are relative to poison ivy. I ate some cashews
a week ago. I wonder if it could be that? The dog that I
pet (not last few days, or ever again) could have been going through
poison oak. The washing machine/dryer that I am using could
have poison oak residue on it.

I've had tooth work done recently. Perhaps an allergic reaction
to chemicals involved?

I also notice alot of "white heads" developing on scrotum and penis.
I squeeze ones on scrotum, thick white material comes out, fills
back up over night. ones on penis will not come out. all of them
feel as if there is a grain of sand underneith.

There are so many factors, including : Water is extremely hard
where I am currently residing. Also, my girlfriend has an infection
in her tooth. Could having oral sex with her give me her tooth
infection on my penis?

I will update as I experiment with eliminating probable causes. So
far I've been doing vitamin B12 and eating garlic. I don't eat super
good, but I'm not a garbage can either. Probably don't get enough
vitamins.

Re: itchy anus and scrotum

other information about me:

father was diagnosed with bells palsy a few years ago (it went away)

he was also diagnosed with shingles, which has cleard up.

I had chicken pox twice as a child.

staph infection diagnosis above was done visually. western medicine thinks a pimple or ingrown hair anywhere besides on face is staph.
