| Anyone ever had SILVER NITRATE applied to Anal Fissure?
Hi,
I have two superficial fissures and one chronic one. Recently, they've been itching like heck with slight discharge (odorless) so I saw a CRS. I've never had any pain, just occasional itching and re-tearing. The itching had just gotten really bad recently.
I had the Colorectal Surgeon apply Silver Nitrate to the fissures under his recommendation. He said that they appeared to be healing but that they've stalled out and the silver nitrate could cauterize the wound and promote new tissue growth.
This was done yesterday and I have some slight bleeding (I dab when it gets too moist down there from the blood and Neosporin I apply). Does anyone have any experience with silver nitrate to fissures? Success/failures? How long it bled? How many times the procedure was maybe done?
Also, I am wondering - I cleanse my anal area two to three times a day with Aquanil. Is that too much considering the wound is trying to heal? Sometimes when I blot with the toilet paper, I can see what appears to be a little skin on the paper - like I'm rubbing off new skin forming.
Thanks for any help or suggestions.
