I know you probably aren't supposed to put the same post in two places...but I didn't see this thread when I posted the other. So I'm sorry
Let me apologize. This is really gross, so if you have a weak stomach I do not recommend you read on. If not, I would greatly appreciate if you could give me an idea of what is going on. Also I didn't know which thread to post this under. I couldn't find one on just this issue.
For the past 6 weeks I've mainly had diarrhea, when I haven't had that I've been constipated. It's one or the other, no in between. Also a newer symptom is that I've had real bad nausea lately. Other than that there are no other symptoms, no pain, no fever, no nothing.
I finally got the nerve up to see my doctor, I went on Monday. He ordered basically a full blood work up (they took 4 vials...), and had me do some stool samples at home. I know he'll be able to give me an answer eventually but I'm miserable here, nothing seems to help. He said if all the tests come back okay with no answer then he'll send me to a GI specialist (which I'm quite nervous about). I've never had this issue. Anyone know what to do to help? Also...any ideas on what this could be or how long it's going to be before I hear anything from him? Sorry I'm just getting impatient....
Thank you for taking the time to read it any and all insight would be greatly appreciated.
Don't apologize, this happens to everybody and that's why we're here, either to get help or to try and help or give support!
Did your doctor recommend keeping a food journal? It may help to see if there is any pattern between the constipation and diarrhea. It will take at least a week to get the blood work and testing back. Also, are you nauseaous before you go to the toilet, is there any relief afterward or is it worse? Is it upon eating a meal? Until you hear from your doctor, plain soda crackers and ginger ale may help sooth the nausea.
Also, don't be scared to see a gastro doctor, it usually isn't painful and don't be embarassed either, they have seen everything and there's nothing you say that will shock or surprise them.
