Angry Can't have bowel movements too hard like rocks

I have always been going thru hell for yrs since in my 20's when I had a hemmoroid operation & they forgot & left the packing in. It made my rectum shrink & it's too small now. I have bowels thats hard as a rock & have tried everything to go but can't it's torture, I wind up throwing up. Don't know what to do went to spec & they couldn't do anything. Thanks

What do you mean, they left a packing in? How is that possible?

You need to see the doctor ASAP!

Re: Can't have bowel movements too hard like rocks

after my hemmoroid operation they packed my rear w/gauz to keep it from bleeding & then after awhile told me I couldn't go home till I had a BM. I didn't know they did that since I was not awake during operation. I kept trying but couldn't go & finally while wiping back there felt something which was the gauz, it must have done something because I had to go to the Dr's office after hours & he would try & strech me which was terrible I was in so much pain & shaking & had to be carried out. That was a long time ago & seemed to have left me w/a rectum thats too small. I've been to specialists & there is nothing they can do about it. I try & take laxitives alot & watch what I eat but every once in ahile it happens & it's really horrible. Thanks for answering.

The best thing you can do is too keep your bowels very soft by drinking lots of water each day more than 64 oz. eat vegetables high in fiber like spinach, carrots, acorn squash, butternut squash, sweet potatoes, watermelon, strawberries, raspber ries, blackberries, blueberries, pears, plum s,prunes, oatmeal with flax seed and 6 stewed apricots or prunes every morning for breakfast a fruit at lunch and two vegetables at night and drink warmed prune juice before bed and glass of water. Take Citrucel 3 times a day with an 8 oz. glass of water before after each dose of Citrucel. This will help to keep your bowel movements soft and help maintain regularity. Have a set time every day for sitting on the toilet to have a bowel movement and allow up to 30 minutes to move your bowels.
I have found listening to relaxing music and doing slow deep breathing exercises helps in having a bowel movement with no pain.
I used to be chronically constipated all my life and I am 51 now until last March 2011 when I started changing my eating habits, drinking water instead of soda and milk, make myself sit on the toilet every morning to have a bowel movement. I am constipation free as long as I stick to my daily routines but as soon as I get lazy about for more than 2 days in a row then I pay for it big time on the 3 rd day when I have to excessively strain and force myself to move my bowels. That's when I have tears streaming down my face because it hurts so bad to go. I can understand where you're coming from with the pain of just trying to go at all ! I hope these suggestions will help you get some relief from the the hard stools you're always having to try to pass !

As flipfleury has suggested, try to evaluate your diet. If possible, you might want to try seek another opinion from another specialist.

Have you tried stool softeners? Sometimes, you'll need to eat sufficient to have a bowel movement. Eat a couple of hearty meals, w/ rich fiber, and lots of fluid.
