Incontinence post mesh rectopexy op
Hello, I had a laparoscopic rectopexy op 5 days ago and after a few day of no bowel movement and I am now suffering from severe diahorrea and incontinence. I had a rectal prolapse before the op but never experienced incontinence like this before, I don't even know when I'm having a bowel movement! Has anyone had a similar experience? Will it get better in time?

Hi MTHC, so sorry for you, that sounds awful. Are there alterations in your medications that might help e.g. fibre or something to bulk things up?- or can your surgeon help you? What type of rectopexy did you have - what was the full name of the operation as there are many different types?

Could it be that the surgery has damaged some nerves and you therefore can't feel when you have a BM? I would definitely contact the surgeon and ask about this. Otherwise bulk up the stool for the time being and see if it works. Good luck!

That's what I was just posting about - for me, I know it was because of too many helping medicines. I totally sympathize and hope you'll be better soon!
