| Fistula, Fissure, Hemmorhoid, and abscess post op recovery
Hi
Last Wednesday, I had surgery for a chronic fissure, that turned into an abscess that I ignored which developed an fistula. While I was under, he also laser off some internal and external hemmorhoids. Recovery from this surgery has been extremely painful. The first 3 days, I had intense nonstop pain. I got about two good days and then hit the wall today with the pain. It is back to where it was immediately after surgery. It also feels like there is another abscess forming. I am on Dilaudid, which seems to reduce the pain along with sitting in the tub. The pain is wearing me out. I almost wished that he put a seton instead of laid opening the fistula because it is almost like he extended the fissure to the outside (ouch).
My surgeon is on vacation. I did get ahold of him on his cell phone and he wants me to get into a surgeon that he works with some cases on or go to the ER. I fell asleep shortly after talking with him and work up 4 hrs later.
What is the typical recovery? What can I expect over the next couple days/weeks? Any suggestions or tips on how to survive? Should I get into my family dr?
Thanks
