Red face Weird Digestive Issues

I've had issues with constipation since I was a baby. I've been to a doctor for it years ago and they gave me some kind of medication for it. (I don't remember what it was. I was probably 11 or 12 years old at the time.) Lately, I've been having softer stools that are kind of hard to pass. It's like constipation but without the hard stools.
The thing is, when I have these softer stools, I don't necessarily have an upset stomach, but I feel like my digestion is kind of "sluggish." When I have the harder stools, I feel 100 times better and they're actually easier to pass. It's weird. I tried taking Imodium and it actually makes me feel better, but it makes me not have a bowel movement the next day. Help! I don't think this is normal.
