Pain down below

Hi there
Slightly embarrassed posting this but thought some may be able to shed some light. I have been on a healthy eating program the last 2 weeks and prior to that had quite irregular bowel movements (eg 3 times a week maybe). since starting healthy eating I've generally been going once to twice a day. Over the weekend I didn't go for 3 days and after finally going had quite a sore bottom. Over the last 2 weeks I've also "felt" a little bump (I guess you would call it that?) when wiping. Today I've had a bit of an upset tummy and gone to the bathroom twice (bowel movements) & have a really sore bottom - like it feels like it is throbbing a bit (also over the last few days off & on have had some blood when wiped). Any advice? I'm a bit mortified at the possibility of having to go to the Dr for an exam... but just having noticed the changes in bowel habits (could all be down to the healthy eating though) just thought I should check.. Thanks in advance

It sounds like you might have a hemorrhoid from probably straining to pass the hard stool. If you are increasing your fiber intake then you must increase the amount of water you are drinking per day. You should drink at least 64 oz. of water and eat 25-3- grams of fiber per day to keep your bowels moving on a regular basis. I can tell you from personal experience that if I don't drink enough water and eat enough fiber every day then I have a hard time moving my bowels without having to strain real hard to make myself have a bowel movement.

Yes, I agree, it does sound like a hemorrhoid. You might find relief with a cold compress, or you can buy creams and "wipes" over the counter at most pharmacies which will help ease the pain and shrink it for you. Good luck, I know how uncomfortable they can be!
