Concerned about stool color

I am 24 years old, I eat a mostly vegetarian diet with lots of protein-rich greens, I am pretty regular with bowel movements and I do not have any pain or discomfort in my stomach. But my stool is a yellowish-orangey brown, pretty much no matter what I eat, but alway a bit lighter when I've had coffee or a lot of dairy. It wasn't always this color - it started several months ago, but *before* I switched to my mostly-veggie diet. After doing some research I decided to see my doctor and he said not to worry if I didn't have any other symptoms, but I'm wondering what those of you with bowel and digestive conditions think. Can I have oddly-colored stool "just because," or does this persistent yellowishness necessarily signal a problem? Thanks!
