I have an "extremely redundant" colon caused by years of chronic constipation. After my last colonoscopy, my Dr. put me on Linzess 145 mcg. one per day taken when I wake up, but I have to wait 30 mins before I can have my first meal of the day.
This drug has changed my life.....so far anyway. For me it works great. You have to follow the directions though. I have been on it 3 months now, and I am still thrilled with the results. I have a normal bowel movement every morning now almost immediately after I have that first meal (usually a bowl of cereal).
Be careful with your timing though, if you have to leave home early - make sure you take your pill in plenty of time for it to work before you leave home, or know that you will have a bathroom nearby wherever you go. This urgency usually passes after about an hour or so or you might be looking for a bathroom. My gastro. recommended that I take Miralax (mixed with water of course) at the same time as the pill. I have heard many say that the Linzess works better with the Miralax, and I fully agree.
For me the inconvenience of leaving home a little earlier that I might want to is worth the relief it has given me.
